By developing present moment awareness and an abundance of mental focus, you will not only feel much calmer in your life, you will also unlock the fullness of your mind’s potential. When too many distractions compete for your attention, the power of your mind is dissipated in all those directions rather than focusing on one point, or one task like a ray of laser beam. But you can practise becoming more attentive to the present and develop this skill.
Focused Reading.
One of the best ways to cure your monkey mind is through a technique called ‘Focused Reading’.Every time your mind wanders from page into a daydream or a worry, make a checkmark on the right hand margin of the page. This simple act will increase your awareness of how poorly you concentrate.
Meta Awareness.
Control your awareness by meta awareness that means becoming are of what you are thinking.
When you are reading a book and random thoughts are coming in your mind the simple setup is to be aware of what you are thinking the moment you check your attentional space random thoughts will stop coming in your mind .
Pen Down.
Here is another effective way that is writing down: look if random thoughts are coming into your mind while you are doing an important task. The first thing is to observe what these thoughts are about and then write them down. Most thoughts are worthy so what you need to do is write down even they are worthless still write down because after writing down that particular thought will not come gain.
Listen.
When you are not doing something chances are your monkey mind is jumping from one place to another. What you can do is you can listen to what others are saying, or you can diverte whole attention towards a thing. This is effective and practical method of controlling thoughts.
